Pune doc finds Ayurvedic kidney stone treatment

Urologist’s Research to be presented in US

  • DNA RNA Research & Archives

Pune: City-based urologist Dr Suresh Patankar has conducted a research on ‘Kidney Stone and Wound Healing’, which he will present at the American Urological Conference at Orlando City, USA on May 17, addressing about 10,000 urologists from the world over. The research is now in the final stages. It includes a study on treating small kidney stones, detecting them at the early stage and reducing chances of their recurrence.
Dr Patankar, who is also the founder of Ace Hospital and Research Centre, said the research is based on Ayurvedic concepts but has been being conducted using modern scientific methods. He believes this will change the outlook of modern practitioners towards Ayurveda.
He said kidney stone in urology, and wound healing in all surgical procedures are common problems and need to be studied in detail. “A lot of new surgical treatments are available to remove kidney stones with minimum damage and pain to the patient. These treatments are being carried out by our hospital for the last 30 years. However, we have observed that for small-sized stones no satisfactory treatment is available. We are working on that,” he said. All small stones eventually become large and require medical attention. Also, kidney stones are a recurring problem. Dr Patankar and his team are also researching methods of treating kidney stone in the early stages.
The second part of the research concentrates on wound healing. In certain surgeries, if the wound does not heal properly, it may lead to complications in the surgery or to its failure. Dr Patankar has found a regenerative formula, which promotes proper and faster wound healing with less scaring. This research has been accepted by the scientific community after clinical studies were conducted on human beings.

आयू  कामय  मानेन  धर्मार्थ  सुख  साधनम्
आयुर्वेदोपदेषेषु  विधेय  परमादर

It was decided earlier, his vacation (of the chief doctor), who happens to be a veteran in treating Back pain cases here in Trichy. It has happened before and without saying anything he usually asks me to take his place. Every time he gives some challenges and raises the bar, so you gotta learn everytime to be in his good books. This time around he put forward a rather "invincible" task of admitting 10 in-patients. 10 in 5, admitting patients in an ayurvedic hospital is a "coaxing'', given that unlike allopathy, ayurvedic treatments are optional, they could manage with pain killers ! But only when they reach that cliff of going for a surgery( these patients bargain with their health ! ) OR no relief with pain killers that they opt for Ayurvedic treatments. Couln't you treat it for less ? Is your health of that much value to you ? You are able to satisfy your logic in spending LAKHS for surgey to end up in disdain, but spending 1/3 rd of that amount for a long lasting relief life changing palliative treatment looks less attractive to you ! Everything in our life comes at a cost other than GODS GRACE ! You do good or bad god treats you equally, he gives equal oppurtunities, only thing is wether you realise or not !

I have to admit patients, convince them, explain them, and treat to show them results. But this time around due to my previous long interaction with in-patients, consultation was less fussy. Given that I had enough of know-how to treat, I had some nervousness that shown by a beginner, it can become devastating, the patient stares into your eye as if for help and even the slightest of negativity in your approach sends opposite signals, so you gotta be steady, stable, cheerful. When you take the profession seriously, constantly interact with the seniors in the field, gather knowledge, update yourself, keep on trying, then everything falls into place, you dont even have to plan or think or try. A handful of cases to consult was an enriching experience in itself , useful for a life time ! I got a brief oppurtunity and I was prepared, hope oneday I will stand on my own !!!

The ''disarmed'' ayurvedic DOCTOR .

“Ayurveda owes its call not to selfish goals or worldly pleasure, but to compassion for fellow beings. In seeking to know my legacy, you have but seen the leaves of a universal tree, too vast for your eyes. May your sight grow and your quest never end”.

As a physician who has been treating patients using ''Ayurvedic proprietary medicenes", well thats one hell of a task( only ayur docs know), other than in the case of emergency( I swear ! well upon a few times well i'v depended upon pain killers in acute cases, hope Dhanwantari will pardon me !) , I do find a need for an elaborative, authentic studies to be held on certain areas in the feild of ayurvedic clinical practise  which must be goal directed.

The first and foremost thing that comes to my mind treating patients with auto immune diseases is the effect of dietary restrictions and prevention of those factors which may hinder with the persons health, which usually the allopathic physicians do not mention in their practise. Most of the ayurvedic physicians know these restrictions or preventions (ofcourse, prevention is better than cure, always!). But considering its importance in bringing about a positive result in the patients health, i wonder why it has not been put to research ? How these changes or rather limitations in foods and other activities, affect or improve a patients metabolism ? The avoidance of sour/salty/pungent foods, curd, potatoes, rhizhomes and leghumes, oily and spicy foods, how it affects with the treatment or why are they being asked to be avoided, considering the fact mentioned above that other physicians dont give such an emphasis for these ''rituals'' ! (ha..ha !)

This science of life mentions a ten fold examination for every patient. They are ennumerated below :
1.Place of residence : may be his disease is due to the geographical influence (dry/sandy/marshy/arid etc...) as is seen in filariasis which is seen in high numbers among the residence of cherthala( a place in kerala, known for marshy back waters, no touring, beware of the female anopheles !) OR due to some socio-economic influence .

2.The Humour : the three humours of wind, bile and phlegm are a physio-anatamico-pathological linking of the body and accordingly every disease must be diagnosed according to the imbalance of one of the three humours.

3.Immunity : the strength of a patient to resist diseases, the strength of the disease graded as mild, moderate and severe etc,.

4.Time : the seasonal vagaries may influence in disease causing.

5.Digestive capacity : almost all diseases affect the persons digestive capacity graded as low/irregular/hyper/optimum.

6.Psychology : of how a patient can take the disease , how much he can tolerate the treatment ? graded as faint hearted/ intermediary / strong.

7.Habits : that which is congenial for the patient, due to long term use since childhood . graded as worse/moderately tolerable/ intolerable and the opposite.

8.Age : the age of the patient and accordingly, child/young/old

9.Nature : divided into eight based on permutation and combination of three humours.

10.Food : what type of foood the patient eats usually ?

The jinx in cracking the code for ayurvedic pharmacology is the compundness and complexity of the hydrocarbons(these are organic dude ) , so nobody dares ! It is better yeilding in terms of results if you treat according to these dracoinan dogmas as these dudes were practical geniuses, they are invincible until now ! Nobody even knows wether Charaka is the real name of the author of "that" text book called charaka samhita ! But there is mention of his name, so no doubt about his existence !

The pulsology known to be propounded by the demon king Ravana himself, who happens to be a legend in his own rights, is another marvel. It is a careful and keen observation and thereby compilation of the minute variations in pulse in various diseases and broadly classifying them into three based on the properties prescribed for the three humours. Just like you differentiate between bradycardia and tachycardia by using the variations in number of beats per minute, pulsology also uses different set of criteria for diagnosis. It is a purely diagnostic tool. The force with which the pulse beats, the fullness of beat, the rythm of beat are all noted. It need continuous observation and experience. The pulse difference which I had noticed in certain type of RA patients(only in RA !) , I call it the "rheumatoid pulse", I have diagnosed two or three patients who where falsely diagnosed for OA, with the R pulse, with elevated RA Factors suggestive of an auto-immune pathology !

Many of the relapses and recurrences that occur in ayurvedic practise is due to the ignorance of a special factor which denotes the decrease in or altered state of metabolic irregularity or toxicity. In such cases which occur in preliminary / acute stages of every auto immune diseases, oil is contra indicated. Most of the ayurvedic institutions use oil in such conditions harming patients health. No body has created or authentified such a criteria which forms the "back bone" of all treatments !

Ayurveda has listed certain aetiological factors responsible for causing that disease, no body is bothered. All chase behind davidsons and harrisons for diabetes and rheumatoid. Should they be reminded to think rationally ? Dont blame ayurveda to be irrational, you are ! Every disease has its own pathology in ayurveda and I dont think anybody is treating on such lines .Certain genetical dispositions in blood, fat tissues, lymph, muscles, bone, marrow, psyche are present at birth resulting in improved functions and better anatomical developmant of such tissues. Only ayurveda has introduced the concept of metabolic pathways which are found imortant for the ayurvedic student, spare the physician.

There is an old saying that comes to my mind, spare the rod spoil the child. On similar lines, i would like to say spare the student spoil the doctor !

Feeling Good as an "Ayurvedic'' DOC !!!

Feeling good

Its a tremendous feeling unlike in the beginning as an ayurveda doctor when you come to many of the patients getting cured almost completely when compared to their initial sufferings , the gain of confidence in themselves after the treatment, since many of them already have given up on life after the streotypical allopathical approach that had harmed more if not healed , the patients feel as though cheated depressed, but when after taking treatments they say “I have never ever in my life come across such a type of treatment”.
For a treatment which is four thousand years old..to survive the modern inventions and discoveries in an era of genomes, one simple thing to understand is that these were the ways our body was meant to be treated. No other treatments even naturopathy or even physiotherapy can give such results or can even claim to. That is the greatness of Ayurveda !
Each and every concepts that ayurveda putsforward are practically perfect, in theory it may be found defective for a rational mind. Ayurveda can reduce pain , now cancer is also treated by ayurveda .
Its fulfilling as a doctor when you can treat a disesase without affecting the body. Feels good. May be I will be able to contribute a significant bit in developing my science. I dream where in ayurveda only ayurveda is done ! With only knowledge of modern sciences.

"NO SMOKING", coz there is no need to......?

Smoking ! I don wanna go into the biology and pathology of smoking. I just wanna share my views , because it may be different , may be, whoever you are, a smoker, a non smoker, a chain smoker or...the unfortunate passive smoker, you might have not thought it this way about smoking ! The passive smoker is also a smoker given that people also die as a result of passive smoking, I have seen one or two videos of a retired military person being diagnosed with vocal cord cancer, as a result of passive smoking by being with his peers who used to be chain smokers ! Thats the most cruel part about smoking. I don wanna go into the history or anyother "informations" about smoking, these are my viewpoint, how I view smoking as a social being.

Given that smoking has been recently banned in India in public places, which is a good news, smoking as a habit has not been reduced .  The smokers create as much as an air
pollution (they change the chemitry of the atmosphere according to me) , they pollute the soil the same way , the ashes and remains form little big mountains near tea shops ! You cant speak with a person after smoking cause the smell in awful, and look at his teeth, its been painted and tarred and drilled ! His face loses his innocence, the tarring of lips black is the first sign of checking if a person is a smoker or not. Smoking affects the vital capacity of a person, look at his lungs it is a hollow barrell, he cannot breathe normally, the breathing is shallow ! He catches with recurrent cough and upper respiratory tract infections and is frequently seen in medics for purchasing OTCs.

The smoker is a loner ! Even though peer groups are the one encouraging or promoting smoking ! The general idea or image created of a smoker as a manly person , mainly in the films by heros are the main reasons the younger generation being attracted towards smoking. If a person considered to lead goes behind smoking so does his followers.

Smoking has now been considered as out of fashion thanks to the reduction in number of advertisements that the demand has reduced, tobacco has been saved. God save marijuana ! Why not try out some gentle stroll or take out to mediatation when you are lonely, recent posts in fb picturise smoking as another form of suicide ! Thats the creative part of anti-smoking campaigns, the funnier part is smokers know that ! Its not about the harms towards health that is caused by smoking but the air pollution and all that stuff. A smoke comes out of a burnt material, so a smoker literally burns his lungs ! Thats so foolish !

The funnier fact is that I have heard stories about even the chain smoker stopping smoking after an attack of angina( due to atherosclerosis), may be not due to smoking , some other genetic reasons, out of fear ! The change was drastic. The popular concept is that you cannot stop smoking, the craving will persist you to crave for more, you ignore the cravings you yearn for more , so you smoke a puff to stop the craving ( not for smoking cause this time you are true to yourself, or atleast)...then the vicious circle continues from the beginning when you meet old peers, or places where you have been where you smoked. Its all psychology about smoking, well nothing about pathology !

Blame the dopamines ! Only one thing so far positive about smoking as a habit i that it delays the onset of Parkinsons, blame it on dopamine once again ! Why not man take dopamine suppliments instead of resorting to nicotine and marijuanas ?

This is not an anti-smoking campaign, but there is no need to smoke, as simple as that !

PRAYER

PRAYER

March 1, 2014 at 4:18pm
.....Supplication, worship, prayer are no superstition; they are acts more real than the acts of eating, drinking, sitting or walking. It is no exaggeration to say that they alone are real, all else is unreal.Such worship or prayer is no flight of eloquence; it is no lip homage. It springs from the heart. If therefore, we achieve that purity of heart when it is emptied of all but love., if we keep all the chords in proper tune, they trembling pass in music out of sight.Prayer needs no speech. It is itself independent of any sensous effort. I have not the slightest doubt that prayer is an unfailing means of cleansing the heart of passions. But it must be combined with utmost humility.....

THE SPECULATIVE BIG BANG

Well I propose this little doubt of me regarding the big bang theory. May be stupid coz got no time referring the net in search of explanations or wether this doubt has been cleared earlier ?
Big bang theory simply states that the universe was created as a result of a big bang, from a tiny dot of compressed material which was immensely dense and hot, as to contain the entire galaxies ! That part of the story is a bit unbelievable to my rational mind ! The universe is expanding and since scientists still have difference of opininons regarding the mass, wether it exists or not, the big bang will be deleted as was einteins relativity. The mass, as in texts cannot be negated, there is no negative of such thing like a charge, and as such a lost mass must gain itself as energy ! May present itself as elecro magnetic or sound or whatever shit ! So the mass of universe becomes finite, and that contradicts with the popular concept of universe as infinite ! How come such a mass be contained in such a small space. One assumption may be that there was a preliminary state of things that is not related to either mass or energy, why cant we think of such a state beyond mass and energy ? Given the mass of the universe , what would be the space required to contain all of such protons and electrons, how is it possible to contain them, is it energetically feasible ? When you bring a proton and a proton together it will naturally repel, so surely there is some preliminary state to that of proton, neutron and electron, giving rise to them all, creating matter and all the galaxies ! One single particle may be ! How about this, a big molecule with the greatest atomic number and mass, and it degrading to helium and hydrogen(proton) and then creating all that is ! I dont need the spiritual answer of a unified consciousness behind all creations ! Thats the last thing I want to hear, dammit ! In th ecoming days im gonna think seriously about this fact, may be i may come up with an answer , that wont be surprising either, coz all the answers to our questions lie in our unconscious and sub conscious !!!

THE EXTREMIST CALLED HUMAN !

22 :00
Friday, 24 th January

''I have nothing new to teach this world, Truth and Non-violence are as old as the hills''-Mahatma Gandhi.

My knowledge about spirituality and mind is limited, spare me if I find myself stupid writing about my spiritual thoughts and all those non sense, I was a little before remembered about my in competence in writing about mind and spirituality, may be one day I might become mature enough to handle such topics. I find a need to maintain the continuity throughout my writings, which I was reminded again. (damn it really when somebody says like that, wish he was my opponent in the ring, i'd have punched off his pretty nose)......but I am that sort of a person respecting critics ! What a nice .....myself !

I am bored to death thinking about the consciousness and all those bull shitz ! Things are for real , no matter who says the earth is rotating, the sun is shining, no matter who puts posts and posts tons of them regarding existentialism, you are a real being, all of those turmoils, all of those wars and rebellions, all of those blood sheds, they were real. No matter how great you may be, the Gandhis and Lincolns get assassinated. That points down an interesting fact about the human race, ....spread the idea of unity around, you can influence the majority but still you cannot satisfy all. Gandhi was considered the father of nation, Bose was a national hero, so was Feuhrer and Mussolini ! Even against Gandhiji (ji-for respect, tons of 'em), the propounder of the Indian constitution , Baba Saheb Ambedkar said was that, he is no hero, he is a thorough politician, a congressmen of all sorts, cause he did not fight for womens liberation, or against untouchability or human rights, all of his acts ahimsa and satyagraha was a sort of politically mobilising the Indians for the Nehru's. The father was assassinated and the country handed over to what would then become a familial rule in the name of ocngress, well it seemed like one, and that was evident in the killings of sikhs, reminding us of the Jallianwala Baghs devils. Whatever cometh the hour cometh the man, MR.MODI has arrived, within 10yrs he promises to revive India ! Let it happen !

Well that was how our leaders are treated, we in our deepest of minds are to be lead by ourselves, to be independent ! Thats the truth buddy !

A walk out side reveals me the weak ones,
wondering aind ever wondering,
what life was meant to be ?
Poor chaps, they crumble , they succumb,
They rust upon time !
Their values are baised,
Ethics irrational !
The law seems to control them,
Control the beast in 'em !
An animal knows no barriers of "law",
It must be tamed,
It can be tamed in any and every sense.
Beaten and beaten until the animal dies,
...and gives birth to humanity !
Violence is no cure for the itch,
as the history repeats....
Radicals and moderates co existed ,
No page in history books would be found,
with only moderationists !
If there was a Gandhi there was also a Bose !
They are both two side of the same coin !
But extremism I think is a singularity,
where others view are not accepted,
The world is for you and me, meant to be shared,
How can you wage war against your own kith and kin !
Human is an extremist, for he allows no beings other than him,
to cherish !
Human is the greatest extremist the world has ever seen,
Human is the greatest hippocrat,
He worships his own images as god !
He has created the bible and qurans and gitas,
To pacify his own races passion ,
All the inventions and discoveries are out of his ever curious mind !!!

THE NEED TO SUCCEED !

21 : 21
Thursday, 22 nd January 2014

Klaibyam ma sma gama partha naitattwayupapadyathey
Anaryajustam aswargyam akeerthikaram arjunah !!

Sometimes I think I am a lot spiritual when compared to others or less worldly. But I think that as my thought , bby thought I mean an impulse that arises in my mind that lasts for a microsecond and then fades away. Thoughts have got just the significance of a bee going towards the light in search of attraction and then killing itself or suiciding itself. Those people who day dream and spend their time wasting thinking are in reality wasting their energy and investments for a futile cause. But being that way, I mean a spiritual path does not make me happy in a complete sense, may be because of my ignorance about spirituality. I feel as though a sinner and I am in a path of never ending journey to purify myself . But feeling is frustrating in the sense that I am not going to achieve that perfection. Saw recently a post in one of the fb walls the need for a place called Utopian land in our real maps, because that is where our thoughts land ! The word utopia itsef brings to my mind a negative sense of impossibility, that which is not possible or never possible by man. Ofcourse the great Napolean Bonaparte , once truly said that nothing is impossible and that even the word impossible itself says i m possible ! Wow, now thats one hell of a quote, but my thoughts concentrated on the faults of this quote and the derivation was thus, ok....nothing is impossible, what about the things that are never possible. Anyway I think every person if he may be materialistic or not must yearn for success. Success is reality while utopian thoughtts are not. But the criteria of success may be different. Monetary gains cannot be defined as success assessing criteria. Success is a much more elaborate state of mind, not to be measured by how much you earn, its just a popular belief, a common mans belief. By common man I do mean those who are followers, who stand back from everything, the cowards, those who have no opinoin of their own, those who can be easily mislead by the piped piper, the poor rats, les miserables,...damn donno why I get frustrated when I say common man, as man was made to think, and donno who created such a system where education was given for the elite only and others were untouchables. Depriving them of the education , of the developments of contemporary science , made them to believe in the rules of the land lord. Feudal system still exists in our country and dalits do live, yes the very old dalits , the harijans. How come we use that term still ? We dont use the term blacks now! Now I am a bit deviating from the matter, about success, you may ask
what i success ? Success is a state of mind when even after repeated failures you learn from your mistakes correct it and get out of the failure completley as though you never failed but your memeories of failure clings on to you. Success is never ending learning. On the contrary, failure is the inability to retain enthusiasm so as to continue even after the memories of failure is gone ! That idea of the need to succeed to cherish life is beautifully said by the Lord Krishna in a discourse to Arjuna, a counselling of all sorts, that you must in all sense overcome this impotency, impotency to act that too in a war scenarion, that may bring you never ending doom. Why do I need to succeed you may ask ? You need to succeed for you ! The shift is evident throughout this writings from spirituality to success, you may ask why a person who has renounced feel the need to success, my friend spirituality is the unavoidable path towards success, cause success involves learning, no matter what or about what damn thing.

What I got from my college, the VAC-OLLURIANZ !

20/05/2014

"seemless by all means of limit is the freshness you instill in me ...."

Recently , about a couple of months ago i'v been into the habit of blogging and been in fb for years...any topic that catches my attention , it sparks me to write about . Had a heated argument with one of my friend when he put a rather depressive or i say negative comment regarding his collegiate education. What annoyed me so much was that ever since his admission into the college, an Ayurvedic Medical College to be specific, he accuses of losing his vocabularies in english ! I am not surprised by that coz iv heard this from many of em, even i have said it many of a times (but i realised later...the truth).

I dont want to go into the body of those comments, its not what i want to add up here in my blog. Its about what i got from my college, what i made up from bams(bachelor of ayurvedic medicenes and surgery) rather, contrary to what that hapless guy argued with me, venting out his anger out at me(he argues him to be on the right side when he has not done anything fruitful, ha has not even tried !)...lazy pug !

The entry into college was rather on a dissapointing note, losing the battle for MBBS and succumbing to the indecisiveness of choosing between engineering and what i call this then a (pseudo)medical course! I thought then that only physics, chemistry and biology were genuine subjects, which I later realised was wrong. Indian sages have their own galaxy of subject each of which are genuine ! One such science was Ayurveda. But you dont come in touch with Ayurvedic science just by studying a bams course, its a part of our paternity, not just a science. It has been passed on to generations to generations by gurukula system, but only certain families held on to it, which made those families as authentic ambassadors of Ayurveda. No ayurvedic student has the jest or zeal to know his science, whose secrets lie not in the texts but in our sub and un conscious minds ! Its a philosophical science mind you !

The first day in college was horrible, when i came to know that the human body was made of three dosas, namely the vata, pitta and kapha ! The way the teacher expressed that thing was even more terrifying...
"vayoo pittha kaphascheti traayo dosa samaasatha...''

....it was my first introduction into the world of sanskrit literature. The only other word i knew in sanskrit then was "hari sree ganapathaye nama'' which used to be whispered in a childs ear as a part of ceremony called ''ezhuthiniruthuka'', meaning making the child sit for writing, usually done in temples as a part of durga pooja !

The logic of ayurveda baffled me, coz i thought the world was made of atoms and molecules , and ayurveda brought in the concept of pancha maha bhootaas ! To read the astanga hrudaya sootrasthaana was like reading a science fiction text book, i thought these charaka and susrutha dudes imagined or like kekule got the molecular shape of benzene ring in a dream with a snake catching its own tail, these people might have shaped the idea of human anatomy and physiology using their imaginative skills, but its just a sarcasm remember ! They are geniuses in their own right , who paved way for a new , viable medical system strong enough to compete with the modern allopathic stream.
AYURVEDA HAS GOT ITS OWN WAY !!!

But when i went into some rural areas, where agriculture was the mainstay(still), i found out that the same logic of bringing out flowers and fruits out of a fertile land based on seasonal variations, Ayurveda treats the body in the same way, by pouring medicated oils over ones body ! The concept garbha sambhava or the four factors needed for pregnancy to happen is compared to agriculture, namely rtu(season), kshetra(feild), ambu(water) and bheeja(seed). The Ayurvedic and Agrarian logic does not differ much according to me !

Obviously during my study days, library was one of my frequently visited place, coz most of the time i was restless ! Our library according to me has enough supply of literary and medical fuel.  I relished reading the biographies of Swami Vivekananda, Works of Sachithananthan, a malayalam author and certain modern medical books. I dont know what they mean by the term modren ? I frequently visited libraries just to see the books , to me library was the garden and i was the sole butterfly there shifting from books to books. Initially i wandered everywhere around the garden, but when i had enough supplies of honey from medical books available at home, when i went from first to second to third professions, i could be seen mainly staring at books kept at the right corner of our library, which happened to contain mainly literary books.

I was indeed attracted by the poetic verse of Astaanga Hrudaya and some of its verses are like my favourite songs or logos or mottos. I usually sing them out, makes me feel good. But Charaka impressed me more as a medical work. Damn, Charak is the standout performer among all acharyas.

Studying anatomy using chaurasias three volumes was a challenge in the beginning but i soon mastered it. Physiology was fun with colour full 3d illustrations of Gerard.G.Tortora !

Our college had enough teaching faculties and when I was there , there were 3 Ph.Ds who taught there who were also veterans. The college had enough mix of acadamecians and clinicians as teachers. But when i joined college , as a part of student politics, which was led by Students Federation of India famously called SFI, teachers were alleged to fail students intentionally, and that created a war like situation between students and teachers, which then affected academical development of college. Few of the students were able to concentrate in studies, those who were genuinely interested and those who were not interested in politics, others mainly boys went behind politics and students union. The union slowly started losing its cluthches over the students and academics gradually started to prosper with our college producing 100% pass percentage . It was awful earlier ! Nobody was interested in attending the classes or the clinics, and other extra curricular activities were given more importance, like sports, arts , everything other than academics. I never saw a genuine seminar held in my college, but i had my own intellectual interactions with a selected of my friends regarding Ayurveda, and with teachers too.

But i never stood back from any of the responsibilities of college activities, i even conevened the college publication division, distributing medical books and records for the students. I was always active and found out my own innovative ways to curb monotony and boredom, to provide food for my intellect !

The interactions with teachers were fruitful and house surgency was a perfect finish ! The two months training at a government allopathy hospital, one for surgery and one for ostetrics and gyneacology was an eye opening practise about how serious and simple the medical profession is , given that you know ! Otherwise its an enigma !The herbal garden in our college has more than 80 drugs and i almost studied dravyaguna vijnana there with live plants before me, with the hepled of my friend who passed before me. It was so fun, to be in that "tapovan" , i say ! Such a calm and peace energy, seen in temples !

So if any of you smart ass fellas argue about not receiving adequate colllegite education, blaming the institution, for your procrastination, for you ignoring time, for you not adapting to situations, for you expecting to be feed with a spoon ( when the food is on the table !), remember there where enough exposures into the practical ayurvedic feild while at college , but noboby took the initiative to lead others, to that yearned state of mind, there were individual efforts, but they were ignored, their words were given no value, and you paid for it eventually !

You yourself are responsible for your fate, you will even blame the country for not providing enough job oppurtunities , or not giving adequate salaries. You dont understand in the first place. You dont work hard.
And you pay for it ! Talent does take you no where, luck does not assisst you, not if you are PREPARED !!!

Be positive

GLORIFIED METAL CHUNKS.

21:47
22/1/2014
Wednesday

Always firmly believed in spirituality, or believed to possess the so called "spiritual genes", although most of the people around me think it to be a sannyasa, a sanskrit word signifying the entry of human into the final stage of life renouncing every materieal posessions, cutting off from every worldly responsibilities, shrugging off I say.All the roads that lead to the attainment of spiritual bliss or whatever thing that is believed to give man limitless pleasure, must start from self control. Seilf control is spirituality and spirituality is self control.I dont believe all those people who have said to renounce the wordly posessions are people with self control ! In a world which predominantly thinks in a materialistic fashion, living your life for the attainment of materialistic benefits, leading the life of a sannyasi would mean a rebel. But so far as the present situation goes, that set or group of people are making huge profit by using ordinary peoples emotional liability, the materialistic ones to be specific. These so called spiritual gurus are leading a life of prosperity, then a question arises what where those material pugs living for when all those wealth they yearned for goes to such people ! They have renounced these material benefits, so whom does these belong to ? What is their value ? They become just glorified metal peices !

Dr. Abdul Kalam's ‪#‎Letter‬ to Every Indian - Dated - 12/03/2014
Why is the media here so negative?
Why are we in India so embarrassed to recognize our own strengths, our achievements?

We are such a Great NATION.
We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them. Why?
We are the first in milk production.
We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.
We are the second largest producer of wheat.
We are the second largest producer of rice.
Look at Dr. Sudarshan , he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self-driving unit..
There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.
I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news.
In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.
Why are we so NEGATIVE?
Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things?
We want foreign T.Vs,
We want foreign shirts.
We want foreign technology. Why this obsession with everything imported.
Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance?
I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is..
She replied: I want to live in a developed India.
For her, you and I will have to build this developed India.
You must proclaim.
India is not an under-developed nation;
it is a highly developed nation...
YOU say that our government is inefficient.
YOU say that our laws are too old.
YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage.
YOU say that the phones don't work, the railways are a joke. The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination.
YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits.
YOU say, say and say..
What do YOU do about it?
Take a person on his way to Singapore.
Give him a name - 'YOURS'. Give him a face - 'YOURS'. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best.
In Singapore you don't throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores.
YOU are as proud of their Underground links as they are.. You pay $5 (approx. Rs.. 60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM.
YOU come back to the parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity…
In Singapore you don't say anything, DO YOU?
YOU wouldn't dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai ..
YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah.
YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs..650) a month to, 'see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.
YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, 'Jaanta hai main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so's son. Take your two bucks and get lost.'
YOU wouldn't chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand ..
Why don't YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo?
Why don't YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston ???
We are still talking of the same YOU.
YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own.
YOU who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground.
If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country,
Why cannot you be the same here in India ?
In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan ..
Will the Indian citizen do that here?
We go to the polls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility.
We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative.
We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin.
We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms.
We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity. This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public.
When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child! and others what do we do?
We make loud drawing room protestations and continue to do the reverse at home.
OUR EXCUSE?
'It's the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons' rights to a dowry.'
So who's going to change the system?
What does a system consist of?
Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbours, other households, other cities, other communities and the government.
But definitely not ME & YOU.
When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr.CLEAN to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government.
Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country.
Nobody thinks of feeding the system.
Our conscience is mortgaged to money.
Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one's conscience too…..
I am echoing J. F. Kennedy's words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians…..'
ASK WHAT WE CAN DO FOR INDIA AND DO WHAT HAS TO BE DONE TO MAKE INDIA WHAT AMERICA AND OTHER WESTERN COUNTRIES ARE TODAY'
Lets do what India needs from us.
Forward this letter to each Indian for a change instead of sending JUST JOKES.
Thank you,
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

Spiritual and Non-spiritual Genes.

"What they found is that different types of happiness have surprisingly different effects on the human genome. People who have high levels of what is known as eudaimonic well-being - the kind of happiness that comes from having a deep sense of purpose and meaning in life (think Mother Teresa) - showed very favourable gene-expression profiles in their immune cells. They had low levels of inflammatory gene expression and strong expression of antiviral and antibody genes. However, people who had relatively high levels of hedonic well-being - the type of happiness that comes from consummatory self-gratification (think most celebrities) - actually showed just the opposite. They had an adverse expression profile involving high inflammation and low antiviral and antibody gene expression. The report appears in the current on-line Edition of the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. For the last ten years, Steven Cole, a UCLA Professor of Medicine and a member of the UCLA Cousins Center, and his colleagues, including first author Barbara L. Fredrickson at the University of North Carolina, have been examining how the human genome responds to stress, misery, fear, and all kinds of negative psychology."
