while the leftist parties run on merit, the congress runs on popularity wave.
I would be dissappoointed if Mr.Sashi tharoor, wins from trivandrum, because, since it is evident that BJP is the single largest party, forget about NDA, sweeping off the whole of north india, it would be beneficial for Kerela if Mr.Rajagopal wins, who during the tenure of Vajpayee, was instrumental in developing railways in Kerala.The congress votes can be partially attributed to the northren states of kozhikode, malappuram and ponnani with majority of muslim population, naturally you expect Muslim League to win which is UDF.The victory of Innocent from Chalakudy, and the failure of M.A.Baby has been a surprise this time. This time again thrissur is wearing red suite, letting loose of the congress tide for a second time. For me Mr.Rajagopal should win from the capital.
This is a clear statement for the next state elections ! But BJP is out to set a mark in Kerala, getting significant amount of votes so as to pose a competition. BJP is earning reputation as a national party, next to Congress, it will surely surpass the Congress.
